Registration starts first by joining a local club closest to you ~ list provided online here.
Most clubs start registration in mid to late September.
Then you would register with NVWF per your club’s instructions to compete in tournaments.
NVWF is an overarching organization designed to arrange competition venues among 30-plus clubs that are spread all across the northern Virginia area including Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, King George, Fauquier, Culpeper.
To begin the registration process with NVWF, click on the “register on-line button” which will become active some time in the September period, and find the club you joined to further complete NVWF registrations.

On-Time Registration Ends on November 25, 2024.
Late Registration is open from December 3- 23, 2024. Season consists of roughly 8 Tournaments plus a Championship Final Tournament. The tournaments begin in mid- December and go through the end of February (occasionally extends to first week in March).
Eligibility – NVWF is open to wrestlers ages 5 – 14.
Wrestlers age groups are determined by birth date as seen below.
Season 2024-2025 Age Divisions:
Wrestlers Eligible to wrestling must be born between Jan. 1, 2010- Dec. 31, 2019
Bantam: 1/1/18-12/31/19
Midget: 9/1/2016-12/31/17
Junior: 3/1/2014-8/31/2016
Intermediate: 7/1/2012-2/29/2014
Senior: 1/1/2010-6/30/2012
Capital Area Wrestling League (CAWL) wrestlers are eligible to wrestle in the NVWF if they did not place sixth (6th) or better in the previous years CAWL End of Season Tournament. Also, if a CAWL wrestler participates in a CAWL meet and wrestles for points, they cannot wrestle in the NVWF tournament in the same weekend.
