Six USA Wrestling Regional Championships Scheduled for May

The USA Wrestling Regional Championships for the 2024-25 season are set, with six tournaments taking place across the country in May.

The series kicked off with the Northwest Junior and 16U Regionals in Centralia, Washington, in late March. The remaining six events will feature divisions for 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and Juniors, allowing both boys and girls to compete in freestyle and Greco-Roman styles.

Athletes can participate in any regional tournament to qualify for the 2024 U.S. Marine Corps Junior & 16U Nationals in Fargo, North Dakota. Details on qualification procedures are provided below.

The events also serve as qualifiers for the Kids Nationals in the 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U age groups in both freestyle and Greco-Roman styles. The 2024 USA Wrestling Kids Nationals will take place in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at the ImOn Arena from June 27-30.

Upcoming Regional Events:

  1. Western Regional Championships: May 9-11 in Herriman, Utah, at the Zions Bank Real Academy.
  2. Northern Plains Regional Championships: May 10-12 at the UCR Fieldhouse, Rochester Technical & Community College Regional Sports Center, Rochester, Minnesota.
  3. Phil Portuese Northeast Regional Championships: May 10-12 at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City, Atlantic City, New Jersey. This event also includes a U23 freestyle tournament on May 10.
  4. Frank E. Rader Southeast Regional Championships: May 17-19 at the Gas South Convention Center, Duluth, Georgia.
  5. Central Regional Championships: May 17-19 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
  6. Southern Plains Regional Championships: May 31 – June 2 at the Kansas Star Event Center, Mulvane, Kansas.

Qualification Procedures for the 2024 U.S. Marine Corps Junior & 16U Nationals:

  • State teams are limited to four wrestlers per age, per style, per weight class. Automatic qualifiers do not count against this limit.

Automatic Qualifiers Include:

  • Current year 1st-6th place finishers at USA Wrestling Regionals (in the same age and style).
  • Current year 1st-8th place finishers at U15, U17, and U20 Nationals (in the same style).
  • Previous year 1st-8th place finishers at Junior and 16U Nationals (in the same style).

Geographical Exception for Hawaii and Alaska:

  • Teams from Hawaii and Alaska can have up to 4 wrestlers per weight class, plus 2 additional wrestlers at any weight class, totaling up to 62 wrestlers for 15 weight classes.
