Tamyra Mensah-Stock won the Tokyo Olympic title at 68 kilograms and is a two-time world champion. She is the first Black woman to win an Olympic gold medal in wrestling. She came through Wayland Baptist. The joy in her wrestling was not a brand exercise. It was visible in the bouts, which is a harder thing to counterfeit.

The weight she won in Tokyo is the weight Amit Elor won in Paris, years later, as a different kind of champion. The division is large enough to hold both stories. We will not mash them into one moral.

If a number about her career is not in the line above, we have not confirmed it, and it is not on this page.
